I lost myself trying to please everyone.
When you're too focused on living up to other people's standards, you aren't spending enough time raising your own. Some people may whisper, complain and judge.
When someone decides to please another person simply because it gives them pleasure to do so, it becomes a choice and not an obligation. On the other hand, pleasing someone out of FEAR of not being loved or appearing egotistical creates expectations on both sides and generates a feeling of guilt. Wouldn't you rather be living a life of true love?
Knowing yourself is Enlightenment. Through my artwork I try to bring the inside out. Looking past the obvious, close observation and engagement of the subjects is my process. The challenge is to see beyond the distraction of the conspicuous to capture its unique self. Some of my subjects are quite beautiful, others less so. My goal is to inspire those who see my work; to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places.
