My work emerge as a personal response to my immediate environment. This journey as an artist is the journey of self exploration and self devotion to my work. Having spent time in painting in realism, I realized in the initial year of my master’s program that I am unable to express myself through details of perspective, light and color. I have been conscious of breaking myself away from realism towards more free flowing. When at home, I like to sketch human forms with which I share my familiar relations. The presence of male body and questions about depiction of artist’s own emotion forms the crux of my work so far. I am still not sure why I am drifted to paint male bodies,is it due to dominance of man in the family and other sphere? I’m still thinking. I like to play with human figures and its environment in my sketchbooks. It is my mental setup that gets channelled in making of the environment, whether it is my anxiety or questions about my future.
