Having been a keen observer of how Goa and its landscape have inherently changed and still is changing my focus is on Land Mining. The human greed has lead to over extraction of iron ore minerals, which imbalance the ecosystem. “The Act of Lynching”, “The Act of Condolence” and “The Act of Stealing” are the body of work explores the idea of specified behavior or actions in our society which we all share in common. But these actions are replaced and seen through the perspective of trees giving it a bizarre approach to imagery. These drawings discerns the frozen moments of an action in a landscape. I am experimenting with mud as a medium to draw and applying it as a metaphor to finding its conceptual relation with the visuals I have created. I am hoping to draw attention to the richness of Goa’s mud, “the peculiar red color owing to the iron oxide content” and its exploitation throughout the years.
