My paintings take the viewer into a surreal landscape, where I try to create large collage of human, animal, bird and different location. I always try to observe how the image interacts with other adjacent images which I relate with them; sometime it is humorous and sometimes gloomy and often bewildering. However the dream like activities and narratives are left unexplained rather a suggestion of some contextual clues may generate varied meanings. With the use of no singular point of focus or obliteration I create enigmatic landscapes of a world without greed, hunger and violence. May be there is something beyond.
Subhendu’s works are focused on the theme of combinations. A collage of man and animal, an interaction of elements conveyed against different backdrops give rise to surreal landscapes. His works are narratives with slight clues here and there which guide towards a deeper meaning.
